* The Great Spocom Super Show Anaheim
Spocom Super Show Anaheim has been one of the main staples in the So-Cal car show scene. Over the years, Spocom has been through several transformations. During the great 2020 pandemic as well as the modeling industry going virtual, Spocom has pulled through and come out stronger than all the other similar car shows. This year, Spocom has expanded to its full tour list. It's like back to the good old glorious days!
If the last year's Spocom Super Show
Anaheim is any indication of a revival of the classic big car shows, then this
year's showing is the even stronger show! Not just by our observation, it's
also confirmed by many other attendees and media folks. This is a great
phenomenon that we did not expect but whole-hearted embrace it. The super show
of vast arrays of modified cars, and a high number of import models posing by
the cars for photographers, as well as strong stage actions, has come back in
full swing!
* 2023 Spocom Super Show Anaheim
The 2023 Spocom Super Show Anaheim was on a comfortable warm August Saturday afternoon. Anaheim Convention Center has been the home of the Super Show for the longest time that we can remember. The large venue space allows visually-endless cars to be put together and still allows attendees comfortable walking about. The facilities were easy to access and the security is tight to ensure the safety of all people inside and the comfort of the attendees' minds to have a worry-free wonderful environment.
This
year's Spocom Super Show Anaheim is very organized as always. When we entered
the hall, the competition cars were lined up nicely already. The visual was
just stunning. Rows and rows of shiny and bright-color cars waiting to be
inspected and hopefully getting their awards.
The format of this
year's show carries its great tradition of cars, models, vendors, dances, Miss
Spocom bikini contest, and last-year-added fashion show catwalk. It's a
full-circle lifestyle around the car and model communities. This gives both
car enthusiasts and families a great place to enjoy their Saturday evenings.
* Spocom Super Show Anaheim Model Lounge and Models
The Spocom Super Show Anaheim is known for its huge lineup of import models. The show attracts both highly influential established models and new talents that wanted to enter the import modeling world, the right way. The show provided a great opportunity for both model generations to connect with the media, photographers, agencies, and promoters.
When it comes to
the definition of import modeling, this is what you can find it. With a strong
showing of the JDM cars and Asian models, the combination embodies the spirit
of import modeling, and the arena of all the interested parties to come
together.
The Spocom main model lounge is always at the
prime spot, directly in front of the stage. The Spocom model lounge consists
of many tables in a rectangular castle formation. They not only provide space
for models to put out their merchandise, but they also serve the purpose of a
boundary both literally and mentally between the models and
fans/photographers. This provides a safe space for the models to host their
bases.
However, it turned out that most tables were not quite used
because the models were out there working with photographers taking pictures
with cars. Actually, the models inside the fortress are much less than the
models out there working with cameras. It's a phenomenon that wasn't seen,
say, 10 years ago.
The Spocom Model Lounge is the center focus
point with huge attraction to many model admirers as well as photographers and
media folks. You could constantly see crowds in front of models at the model
lounge. This is definitely a huge highlight of the show!
In this
year's Spocom Super Show Anaheim, we met many of our cover and feature models
that were in the model lounge as well as working with vendors across the
venue. We met up with Gabby Jean, Jamie Luna, Bethany Gragg, Lilly Evans, Lin
Yeh, Princess April, Daizy Doan, Lydia, Dara, Corvi, Paola Pink, and more.
It's a great year that many of our cover and featured models came out to meet
their fans and let us take pictures of them while catching up on the recent
411s.
Besides the familiar faces from our magazine, there were
many new faces that we have not seen ever, even online. Some of them were
actually first-time car show attendees. This is a wonderful show for models to
break their ground in the modeling experience. There were some really
high-caliber personalities at the show that could easily be identified as a
fashion model or a professional dancer, or simply a great influencer both
in-person or virtually.
The vendor models generally have
great resumes that prove them worthy of vendor hiring. They were standing by
their employers' booth and working with the attendees either for photo-ops or
lead generation. They always have a slightly different aura in their roles and
in their modeling. They definitely gave a good balance with the pure import
modeling from the model lounge.
* Spocom Super Show Competition and Showcase Cars
The main draw of Spocom Show is the wide array of cars, especially JDM cars, that have gotten out of their stock compositions. Many chose to upgrade their engine department with chrome-plated engines or expanded fluid pipes/tubes. Some opted for lighting changes to reflect the bright personality of the cars and the owners. Some totally redesigned the interior that made their cabin a mobile home or entertainment center. Then the exteriors and the chassis and accessories are at another level of customization, including air-lifted suspensions, custom wheels, and noticeably big spoilers, among others.
Most of these cars belong to car clubs that have their own
definition of the style of customization. Some are more pronounced in the look
and feel, while some others focus on the power and handling of the cars. It's
exciting to see the Team Hybrid with their large showing of their members'
cars. In fact, our featured car "Red Demon" who came from Arizona was
prominently displayed at the team's space. It's always to catch up with Mike,
the owner, and listen to his hearty description of his projects and
experiences.
* Many Vendors, Hard and Soft and Fun
The 2023 Spocom Super Show Anaheim had many vendors participating in the event. It's a great turnout compared to the last few years pandemic hindered the car show scene. They ranged from huge Wheels companies to lifestyle merchandise with car decoration and accessories. There is no shortage of modifications, big and small, that a car owner can buy to make their car unique and personal.
At the show, the big tire company Falken
brought in their big truck and several show cars. However, they did not bring
their models here, as most of them are our cover models. We were hoping that
they would bring back the glorious days of professional models, as the Falken
models were the cream of the crop in professional motorsports modeling.
Whenever they showed up, there were always lines, being very long, for the
opportunity to get freebies from these lovely ladies.
* The Energetic Dance Showcase
One of the Spocom Super Show Anaheim traditions is the showcase/competition of street dance. The high energy and quick movements in these dances brought a different vibe to the show. Intricate choreography includes moving body parts as well as formation changes seemingly telling stories and expressions of real-life lifestyles.
Not only the energy is felt from the stage,
but the other teams also cheered in front of the stage. One could constantly
hear encouraging shouting and cheering to the dance moves on the stage. This
showed the community of the fellow dancers and a great community as a whole.
* Siray Kong Fashion Show
Starting in 2022, the swimwear fashion show by the designer Siray Kong is again gracing the stage of the 2023 Spocom Super Show Anaheim. This fashion show consists of nearly a dozen models, both females, and males, and more visually, including all body shapes and sizes. This is not the typical swimwear fashion catwalk in, say Miami or San Paulo. This is the true-life swimsuit for the likes of folks on the stage as well as the crowd in front of the stage.
The designs of the swimwear are very approachable. The
tropical colors and friendly patterns on these models showed a carefree
lifestyle with no loud or overtly sexy undertone. This matches very well with
the presentation of the catwalk and the model ensemble.
* Miss Spocom Anaheim 2023
The legendary Miss Spocom Anaheim is one title that many models as well as model management seek to include in their accolades. This year's Miss Spocom Anaheim 2000 has roughly 20 competitors. From our experience and observation, this is a good number for the contest. In the past, sometimes there were substantially more models than this year's, and the contest lasted a much longer time, which is also not the time spent on cars or vendors. If less than this number, it gives the crowd a less contest experience and fewer models to introduce to the crowd. 20 seems to be a magic number.
This year's
Miss Spocom Anaheim was hosted by the big-name import model Katherine Lynn.
Katherine wore a beautiful mini dress that showcased her beautiful legs. She
handled Miss Spocom Anaheim at a comfortable pace. It made the whole contest a
smooth and highly enjoyable stage event.
Even though the
procession was smooth, the contest was fierce and competitive. Models vying
for crowd responses performed their special performances. Many were remarkable
like the yoga poses, crowd stirring interactions, and some were unintentional
as well. All models went up the stage wearing a T-shirt. In half of their
presentations, their T-shirts would come off in all sorts of ways. All is not
wasted; the T-shirts were thrown to the crowd for individuals to keep.
Definitely, this was a crowd-pleasing act.
With all the body
sweats and booty shakes, the finals came down to the final three real winners.
The results are, Miss Spocom Anaheim 2023 is Samantha Summers, the highly
trained dancer, and 1st runner up is Cici, the longest hair import model, and
the 2nd runner up is a model that we did not get to know more. It was a great
and sexy and fun contest as always.
* Great Media Community Together
Spocom Super Show Anaheim 2023 is an amazing year for the media community.
We've met so many media folks that we haven't seen for many years. It's like
going back 10 years ago that the media community always came in with full
force to cover the event. This is a great sign that the Spocom-style car show
is back in 5th gear!
* Spocom Super Show Anaheim, Always the Top-Of-The-Line Car Show in So-Cal
The 2023 Spocom Super Show Anaheim is one of the best car shows in recent years, including pre-pandemic years. There were many show cars that gave car-lover attendees plenty to check out and chat with the owners. There were huge amounts of models ready for cameras and selling their merchandise. The vendors came out to support this show that brought the good old time back from the peak days. And the stage shows and contests are on point and highly entertaining.
It's a great outing for both enthusiasts and
families to spend on a hot Saturday evening. It's fun and organized and tons
for everyone's mental content.
Spocom always brings quality shows
and maintains its leading position in the So-Cal import car show market. We
salute a great show that Spocom put together and executed. We look forward to
the next one already!
