Wekfest Los Angeles is a major event in the southern California car show scene. It's highly respected and sought after for serious die-hard car enthusiasts to display their latest and unique mods and customization.
We've been proudly covering this event from its inception at the Long Beach grassy park back in the year 2011, and we are happy to come back again to cover it with full force.
This year's Wekfest LA was again at the Los Angeles Convention Center, occupying a large chunk of space in the convention hall. The crowd turned out to be huge, nicely filling out the convention center venue space.
Across the row of modified cars, we some wild and specialized changes made to cars and displayed their strong owners' personalities and skills, and capacity to exert the customization level to a higher level.
Mostly, people would see many Japanese domestic market (JDM) cars with their shiny or intricate modifications on display. There were also Europen, exotic, and some Overlander vehicles at the show.
As far as the model presence, there were some promo models at the show. However, being a highly focused car show like Wekfest, there was no setup for a model lounge and the general scene was less loud and calmer.
On the vendor side, there were car perfume and apparel vendors at the show, adding more lifestyle flavor and fun to the die-hard crowd filling the scene.
As our contributing photographer, RR Lopez described, "just like the last time I went to one which was held at Long Beach, WEKFEST was a more calm car event compared to others. It gives the cars more emphasis as there was less distraction."
We look forward to next year's show already!
