2021 Wekfest LA - A Strong Restart

Back in the last year at the height of the pandemic, the whole country was at a dire situation. Car shows were the victims of this relentless dark shadow. 90% of the shows were canceled, unfortunately including the Wekfest too.

However, 2021 has been shining a bright light to the recovery and economy. People are coming out of their home and limited lifestyle and car shows followed the suite closely. Wekfest LA 2021 is geared to be a great come back for all the refined mod car enthusiasts.

Early Morning Earthquake that Indirectly Affected the Show

The early morning of Los Angeles had a small earthquake in download LA. This has created a havoc, not because of the swings and sways from the quake. It's the main road closure for checking the underground pipes and channels does not have leaks of gas, water, or other potential problems. However, this created a small inconvenience to the entrance to the Wekfest show because it's right in front of the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is Wekfest LA's show venue.

Thank goodness, that it's a short term closure and normal traffic came back and parking, access, and entrances were all available soon.

Vaccination Check and Safety Measures

We were super happy that the organization was serious about vaccination status. They checked for our vaccination card (digital in this case). And when we entered the conventional hall, we feel great that 99.9% of attendees were wearing masks. This is a very good model for the indoor events.

This is the first full enclosed indoor car show that we attended, and we felt pretty safe and well about it. Our hats' off to the organization!

Our Feature Models Lydia and Lin Yeh

It's been a super long time since we last met Lin Yeh! She's been busy doing all the new things a top model does. She also started vlogging so you will see a lot of her talking about her life and happenings around here. Definitely go and find her vlog and follow her!

At the TRUHart booth both Lin Yeh and Lydia are their leading ladies there. We recently worked with Lydia and she's a total top notch star! It's easy to work with her and she is very good at branding herself and reaching out. Definitely keep an eye on this fast rising star.

Various Show and Vendor Models

At this year's Wekfest LA event, the major model presence fell on Savini and It's JDM Yo! and associated companies. They always bring top level models to shows and this time is no exception.

Alexia Cortez is a huge welcome since we haven't seen her for so long. She's always so bright, fashionable, and photogenic!

We had the pleasure meeting Kat who is vibrant, energetic, professional and simply stunning!

Nicky Park has resurfaced back to he car show world and it's big welcome here.

Taylor Sandoval's looking so sweet and elegant in front of their super cars.

We also met up with the legend Big Abe at the show. He is such a staple of major car shows. It's always so good to see long time friendly faces that reassure things are okay now, and always will be.

The official modals of Wekfest LA are Marie Madore, and others. Needless to say, it's been a long time since we last did coverage of her. It's such a warm and awesome catching up with her again!

We also captured a show attendee that dressed up so unique that we had to capture her imagery.

Modified Cars, The Very Soul of Wekfest LA Show

First of all, being admitted to the Wekfest car show is a hugely high status statement. That is not just the Oscar's "It's an honor to be nominated" type of status. It's the high door to enter in order to make it truly respected by the community. Many of the cars are not seen in any other car shows, and their unique builds defined the high bar of the show.

The hosting Wekfest organization is super cool and very family-feel relationship to car owners and builders. They are kind, frank, and very encouraging to all the participants.

As the organizer host mentioned that he is a builder himself. The judges are not looking what catalogs or parts that one can get and slap on their cars. We believe what they are looking for are the hand craftmanship, fitting of the overall integration and presence, clean and precise integration of the modifications. And the final forms and function balance.

Certainly there is no shortage at all for such fine works and tuning of these special cars.

There were all makes and models. It does not matter that it's JDM, Super cars, performance sports, American muscle, or vintage or campers. The key is the ingenuity and execution.

Wekfest LA 2021, A Super Car Show

Wekfest LA 2021 is a huge success especially after the pandemic lockdown and restrictions. The organizer is doing an excellent job in checking people's vaccination status or test results. The feeling that the high quality car show is back gives us comfort that the industry is in fully revival stage and will come back stronger and better.

We look forward to the next year's event already!
